Tailored Training

If you have issues to resolve, changes to implement or skills gaps to fill and you're looking for solutions . . . then tailored training could provide the answer . . .
  • Flexible
  • - what you need, when you need, how you need it
  • Targeted - focused to deliver your business objectives

  • Cost effective - make the most of your budget and staff time

  • Tangible - tackle live business issues with new skills

  • Confidential - keep commercial information within the team

  • Collaborative - strengthen team bonds and communication

Because tailored training is more than just any single event or course – more than just delivering set content to a set audience . . .

Tailored training is the challenge of exploring how we, as training providers, can help you and your business unlock the full potential of your people to achieve your goals.

Training for change – together . . .

So how can we achieve it? Through training for change – together.

In-company, in-house . . . call it what you will, many providers nowadays offer an on-site training option – the common denominating factor being that’s just what it is – on your premises as opposed to elsewhere. In effect, you’re still receiving an off-the-shelf package but delivered at a slightly more (or sometimes less) convenient location.

And that’s fine – so long as you realise what you’re getting and accept the limitations. But with cost and time restrictions becoming increasingly stringent, you owe it to yourself, your business and your people to ensure that they get the most out of every development opportunity to secure your competitive advantage.

Select’s tailored training option is just that – quality training tailored to meet your business objectives – so that you can be sure that the results achieved will more than justify the time you invest.

Where to start . . .

Like any good tailor – we start with the client not the cloth . . .

Defining the desire . . . When we receive a tailored training request, we start by meeting the client to discuss their needs –

  • To address a specific skill/knowledge gap, we will look at the business context of the requirement and the current skill levels and learning styles of the participants

  • To provide a company wide-programme – e.g. for organisational change or induction training – we will also consider factors such as organisational history, market place issues and company culture.

  • To design a rolling development programme – e.g. to support continuous professional development, structured management training, succession planning – we will also assess target groups within the organisation and perform a training needs analysis where appropriate.

  • In each case we work closely with the client to identify desired outcomes based on participants’ requirements. We ask probing questions to get to know the client at an individual, group and organisational level and we listen carefully to pinpoint their real needs.

Designing the material . . . Having explored the need and, in partnership with the client, defined measurable goals -
  • We then prepare a tailored training proposal, drawing on the expert knowledge of our network of tutors to create a programme that will deliver against the agreed objectives

  • Subject to the client’s approval, our team then collaboratively develop the required training and supporting materials, working closely with the client to ensure that their expectations are not only met but exceeded
Delivering the potential . . . When it comes to the delivery, our approach is deceptively simple – our tutors . . .
  • Utilise methods appropriate for the participants – whether visual, auditory or kinaesthetic learners – using presentations, small and large group discussions, simulations, problem solving and a range of tools designed to keep participants engaged and focused

  • Connect with participants, drawing them out and into the training experience – increasing the transfer of knowledge and its impact on their organisation

  • Read the group and adapt – drawing on an extensive base of knowledge and experience – so that the moment by moment needs of the group are met and their training objectives are achieved

  • Ensure that new skills are internalised and taken back to the business environment where they will be applied both immediately and for the long term

Reviewing the results . . . After each session . . .
  • Each participant is invited to complete an evaluation – providing valuable feedback on the benefit of participating as they have perceived it

  • Each participant is encouraged to de-brief with their line manager to explore how best to build on skills/knowledge acquired and improve performance

  • And after each completed programme, Select reviews and evaluates feedback from participants and tutors and prepares a comprehensive report on the outcome for the client if required.

So, when only quality tailored training will deliver the results you need . . .
